Virtual Reception Goes Green

18/08/2008

It’s not hard to start thinking of the environment and in our industry we can make small changes to our business which will benefit the world. We believe that businesses are responsible for achieving good environmental practice and operating in a sustainable manner.

As part of our environmental policy we are committed to reducing our environmental impact and continually improving our environmental performance as part of our business strategy and operating methods.

Small changes that we have made in our business that have a positive impact on the environment are:

  • We have moved our billing facility from postal to email cutting our paper and ink usage to a minimum. All our bills for telephone answering are now sent out by email.
  • We are trialing home workers which reduces the number of people sat in traffic during busy periods of the day.
  • Our computers have a shorter period to go to standby mode.
  • We encourage our employees to recycle whilst at work
  • We encourage our employees to switch off lights in rooms where they are not working
  • We use videoconferencing to hold meetings with clients who are far away – this reduces our petrol consumption and saves us time with unnecessary road journeys.
  • We have recycling boxes for paper and plastic in our offices.

It is our priority to encourage our customers, suppliers and all business associates to do the same. Not only does this make a difference for the future it also has some commercial benefits. Our stationery costs have more than halved and our expenses for petrol has come down by at least 20%. This all goes towards keeping the cost low in the provision of call answering services.
